Tony Prince, founded DMC with his wife Christine in February 1983. He had introduced DJ mixing into his Radio Luxembourg dance music programme in 1981 exposing the developing art to 50 million listeners. His career began as a singer and became a full time DJ when the UK Musicians Union expelled him for playing records when the band had a break. He became part of the small team of musical mutineers, the UK 60's pirates who broadcast from Radio Caroline. He then joined Radio Luxembourg and stayed with Europe's largest commercial radio station for 16 years.

Well done to all you finalists, you all have DMC’s appreciation of your talents and I’m so glad to have seen new countries evolving after 28 years. We’ve all come a long way since the 1986 DMC’s and as you can see from this feature we ran in Mixmag, DMC continued to support Cheese and Chad Jackson after their wins on a world tour which in turn took the art to new fans everywhere. Orlando Voorne of course wasn’t very happy that Cheese had featured scratching!!!
We’ll be talking about a new DMC DJ legend this time tomorrow and I can’t wait to see who the World Champion judges have selected (sooner them than me!).
