Round 5
In one mighty blow two Americans take the game. I was getting worried for the world’s leading DMC Championship winners.
Well done Shmeeze, you’re da man! You must be knocked out having tried so hard to make a top 2 in Round 4 and never appearing top 2 with the public voting…now get working on that full blooded, all important 6 minute set fro August.
Same to you brother Immortal, I mentioned you from the start of Round 4, you lifted my spirits and made me believe turntablism will never die.
Here is what I said at the start of Round 4:
“We have true DJ warriors in Immortal, Impact and Motif and Schmeeze is back for more too”.
IF YOU THINK THE PUBLIC OR THE WORLD CHAMPIONS GOT IT WRONG…BLOG ME YOUR COMMENTS!
Here in Round 5 Cutzilla should win purely on coming up with a great name for himself!!!
Big attack from the USA in Round 5, this is going to be special! Tell your friends to come vote especially those who have never seen turntablism in action. The best thing you can do for the art is bring new fans in.
JT Spain
Bit cramped in JT’s little Spanish studio to do those body turns. But I’ll tell you something, I was talking to someone who should know better who admitted he tunes out of a film within a number of seconds if they don’t show the right signs of the brilliance he is looking for to vote. So, because JT starts with a pretty traditional body trick, my friend would undoubtedly have moved on after the first 30 seconds.
I said he should know better. A set can begin slow and something powerful can materialize later in the set. It’s sometime worth watching for 90 seconds to see 20 seconds of absolute brilliance in the later part of a performance.
Now JT doesn’t grab you immediately but I’ll tell you this, I wish we’d given him an hour because this guy plays the decks like a jazz musician. I’ve watched him three times now and I know that, had he decided to go for the piano or drums instead of the turntables, this guy would be playing the top jazz clubs of the world today. HE IS A MUSICIAN.
DAYDREAM DLP also has it down to a t. Only trouble is Daydream is a one trick pony and needs to put some cream on the cake.
Is Daydream DLP the first DJ to upload two 2 minute sets?
Did you ever hear a dj use audience applause in their set? Our Japanese entry Shinpa who holds down second place as I write is back again and I’m still confused about his genetics. Shinpa looks like a 6 foot Texan.
I didn’t know how to pronounce DWyZaK tHe ElEvAtOr’s name so was pleased he did it for me on the first beat! Nice plug for his CD on the last beat but how many will have stayed the full two minutes is debatable.
The Royal Wedding is over in London so we’re now cleaning the place up ready for the DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS in October!
The Royal Bloody Tony.
DJ RAFIK is bloody hungry!
