OK, Round 8 and with a day left before the public vote has ended and I’m back from Switzerland delighted to see Chmielix has held his ground for Poland. Right behind Chmielix is another bad arsed DJ who’s name is almost as mysterious….Cwitch from the USA.
But look, no exploding ocean or nuclear plant can get in the way of our DMC DJ friends in Japan and on the edge of the top 2 is DJ blu who was in fact THIRD placed in last year’s DMC CHAMPIONSHIPS in London.
This time he has technology at his disposal and when the track ‘Can a drummer get some’ is slowed down manually by him, he hits both decks at full speed whilst the slowed down version magically continues.
The subtle use of Fx and pure turntablist technique is what will separate the boys as we go forward to the new dawn.
Let’s understand something……the USA cutting cavalry are on the move BIG TIME!!! Not since the Charge of the Light Brigade has America mustered her troops quite like this. Of the 19 competitors in Round 8…TEN are Yankee Doodle DJs! The American’s I have spoken to recently have all been convinced that most turntablists who have felt the urge to enter have wanted to watch the standards, see what they have to do to win, before getting their ass kicked.
So here they are, Cwitch; SpareChange, Bmoney, DJ-ball, Dj cassette, JUYADEK, Dreamstate, FileSpnr, DJ Ez$ and DJ sylver.
We know many names in Round 8 which goes to prove what I told you 16 weeks ago, getting your fingers to work here will brand you, there’s nothing better than walking down the street in Harlem and have some dudes shout you up because you’re a damned great DJ!
Of course some of the bigger ‘brands’ are already through to the Final and will be locked in their prison cells working on a 6 minute mix that will pay the bills and provide the thrills in London.
C’MON, Round 9 is a comin’ so let’s be havin’ you in on-line battle mode. AND YOU WATCHERS…let’s start to see you in the forum biggin’ up DJs who need the encouragement.
