CHILE IS ON THE DMC MAP IN ROUND 9 AND NOW FOR ROUND 10!

I’m really knocked out to see Brazil and Chile doing so well in Round 9, Japan, Simgapore, Germany and Netherlands (Holland) are all having their moment in the DMC spotlight so good luck to everyone. The World Champ votes are in and are being assessed and with 3 hours to go, two of 24 competitors will start to panic as they realise they are in the 6 minute final in a month’s time!

Two Rounds remaining. The two winners of Round 11 (the final round) will have a week-end to create their 6 minute entry as we publish all 22 x 2 minute performances for the public to savour. The final results will be known Friday 5th August, the DMC Online Final will begin on 8th August.
The biggest number of entries came in Round 1 (68), as I write I see only 5 videos entered here in Round 10 ….I know there’ll be more in the next 24 hours but what’s going on here? These 5 are already gathering votes….in horse racing they call this a head start!

Swifty - 1988

If you wondered what DMC did to help promote tuntablism and the World Championships, simple, we put the DJs on the front page of the world’s premier club culture magazine, Mixmag which we owned through the 80′s and 90′s. We also had a weekly magazine, (Update) and in the USA a monthkly magazine called MIXER. It was the promotion in these magazine that helped us to fill the Royal Albert Hall three times! And because the venue was filled with thousands of DJs, it wasn’t too difficult to persuade the likes of James Brown, Run DMC, Public Enemy and Janet Jackson to come to the DMC FINALS. It remains a close run thing as to what I enjoyed most, a hand shake from Elvis Presley or a kiss from Janet Jackson!

1988 was the year of Cutmaster Swift. He’s been working for DMC ever since!
By the way, Sally says we have some talent coming through the UK heats that could deliver a World Title for the UK once again. Been a long time so come to the UK Finals at Scala in London next Thursday and see if you agree!

Me, I like the little fellas to win….Come on Chile!!!!!!

Bloody Tony Esquire.

P.S. Is France closed down? Are we going to see 200 French DJs in Round 11? It’s quite a mystery.
