Tony Prince, founded DMC with his wife Christine in February 1983. He had introduced DJ mixing into his Radio Luxembourg dance music programme in 1981 exposing the developing art to 50 million listeners. His career began as a singer and became a full time DJ when the UK Musicians Union expelled him for playing records when the band had a break. He became part of the small team of musical mutineers, the UK 60's pirates who broadcast from Radio Caroline. He then joined Radio Luxembourg and stayed with Europe's largest commercial radio station for 16 years.

Let’s be honest, you are ALL bloody good. This means that the public are going to find it difficult to vote. We’ve widened the goalposts for you, you can use a dustbin lid to scratch on if you so wish. You can play with vinyl, CD, casettes or digital manipulation of your tunes and sounds - the DJ’s creative world is wide-open. This means a nice, smooth mix, creative loops, cuts, crabs and flares are going to have to stand out if you’re to get on the plane to London in late September. I wonder if the viewing public need a little more entertainment, dressing as a clown, hanging upside down, you can say what you like about these characters but to do a mad trick AND mix brilliantly, is the DJ who will get people talking down the social networks of the online world. My advice to you is exactly the same advice I gave to the competitors back in 1985….be original.
On April 10th we’ll find out which ten ONLINERS go through and then a new submission period begins taking us towards ROUND 2. C’mon U - make it rock!
