BLOODY TONY’S BLOG.
April 6th 2011.
Been enjoying Round 3 a lot. Less DJs this round, I suppose you’re all preparing a winning set and getting your filming right.
Check out DJ Cordella coming up fast from Italy. This guy has got the technique, even his camera has been positioned in an original position. Now how great would this film have looked had he placed a huge mirror at an angle in front of the decks so we saw him and four decks. I think a little imagination on film work will win many votes for DJs. At the end of the day, people who rise to the top here are great skratchers, great at music selection but to win there has to be many elements of true genius and original thinking.
Just caught our first Vietnamese DJ Gravel, it looks hot in Vietnam, can’t say the same about the mixing. He’s definitely got the fingers for the job but his music selection is all over the place. Welcome Vietnam!
Now Cassette….I mentioned originality and I guarantee the thing that has got old Cassy a lot of votes comes about ¾ the way through his 2 minutes when he lifts both stylus arms at the same time to drop on to the music. I’ve never seen this attempted before and although it was a bit disjointed it’s great to see someone reaching for the originality bag of tricks.
Now I have some big news for everyone and the jocks already through to the DMC ONLINE DJ CHAMPIONSHIP final in August will have extra reason to be delighted.
DMC and our supporting sponsors have upped the FIRST PRIZE to include flights, hotel to London in October, the extensive prize list which will be added to in the months ahead
And now….drum roll……..$3000 FIRST PRIZE, that’s right….$3000.
Hey, love Canada’s Elroacholoco’s record library. He starts off like he’s in the DMC Battle for World Supremacy and then cuts to down tempo tracks which is always difficult to put into a set.
This is a very strong ROUND for the USA and about time to. It’s a credit to the public in America when there are twice as many voters from the USA as the UK and five times more than the next biggest voting country, Germany (then comes Canada followed by Japan). France has 10% of the USA voters. So you can see, if the American fans voted territorially, none of you would have a chance. So big up and high five to the USA and let their genuine appreciation for great DJs be an example to every one of us.
Tell you an American I can’t wait to see every time he uploads an entry, DJ FileSpnr, the guy who got everyone talking when he performed his brilliant APP routine in Round 1.
If you haven’t yet seen it go look see: http://www.dmcdjonline.com/watch-video.php?vid=NjE=
In Round 2, he took us to visual mixing: http://www.dmcdjonline.com/watch-video.php?vid=MTYy
and now in Round 3 he’s hanging around 15 using a controller and showing how creative this set-up can be: (http://www.dmcdjonline.com/watch-video.php?vid=MTc5)
Believe me DJ FileSpnr is the DMC Mad Professor, you never know what he’ll do next. I wish him well.
SINGLED OUT
In our Google traffic figures out of the 150 countries where voters came from, here are the countries with just one single voter (and a big hi to you all):
Seychelles; Tonga, Guatemala, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Paraguay, US Virgin Islands, Faroe Islands, French Guiana, Aruba, French Polynesia, Haiti, Montenegro, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Bermuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Isle of Man.
Isle of Man is last on the list and it made me very nostalgic because I was a pirate radio DJ off the coat of the Isle of Man which sits between Ireland and Liverpool in the Irish Sea. You can see lots of photos of the pirate radio DJ days if you’d like to become a Facebook friend of mine. Be aware, I have lots of strange friends, old Elvis and Osmond fans (I was closely connected with both) and women in the wedding industry due to Wedding TV a television channel I launched. And of course lots of friends who used to listen to Radio Caroline (the pirate ship) and Radio Luxembourg (the station which launched DMC as a radio DJ mixing programme back in the early 80’s).
I’ve mentioned Prince Takahashi in the DMC Forum recently and no, he’s not my long lost Japanese nephew but it’s so refreshing to hear a Japanese DJ throwing Japanese style music around. He’s confident too: http://www.dmcdjonline.com/watch-video.php?vid=MTg1
Welcome Nigeria to the ONLINE competition…”this is their journey into DMC’s world”. Listening to Deejay Mekzy takes me back to the day when everyone worked this track into their set. Cold Cut remix of Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid in Full”
Did you all get taken in with the April Fool Technics goes digital gag? It was very well produced. I was on the phone to Osaka like a shot! “You April Fooler Tony”, was the reply!

Anyone around the world not know what an April Fool joke is? Well it happens on 1st April when you have to try to make someone look foolish with a joke or make them believe a lie and you have to catch them out before noon. The tradition comes from the day when April 1st was the New Year Day and it was changed to January 1st.
To all the DJs who have entered the DMC ONLINE, your courage shines through, to those who are thinking ‘I can’t do better than such and such a DJ’, that’s not supposed to stop you having a go. You have to target to try to get into the Top 10 one Round, that….will be the start of your fame! You don’t have to think about winning, you have to think about how many thousands of fans and like-minded DJs around the world will start to get to know you. One day, once you make that first step, you could be a DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPION!
Finally, if you want to discuss anything with me or anyone from DMC in any nation, come to the ONLINE DJ CHAMPIONSHIP Forum.
Tony Prince.

You sure got your timing right Loop. We waited to add the news of money prize so we would attract people who just want to be creative and express their talents without it being a money thing. I’m well impressed with the standards and overly thrilled that so many tablists exist in territories we’ve never held events. This must be the greatest thing in their lives and I’m chuffed for them.
Just let everyone know we have a BLOG going and we’re looking forward to getting everyone involved in the FORUMS. And I’m looking forward to handing over the $3000 to our winner at the live London Finals.
